Young Artist Program

As a performing artist, I have always felt a disconnect in accessibility when it comes to young artist programs and intensives that open doors for young people to pursue careers in the performing arts. This summer the Choir School of Delaware decided to take action and reimagine what is possible for young artists in our community. We created a fully funded Young Artist Program that prioritized ambitious Black / Brown students with artistic potential, and worked together to create a vibrant and fulfilling atmosphere.

I am thrilled with the success of our program that brought valuable resources to selected young artists to pursue their dreams in stage management, performance, songwriting, musical theater, and more. For the Choir School of Delaware, it is a priority to address the marginalization of students of color, which has historically set a plethora of systemic hurdles to overcome.

I am proud of our Young Artists who continuously evolved in their artistry and led our production of the Addams Family with light and positivity. They have brought me much hope for the future of the performing arts industry.

Courses: Positive Psychology in the Performing Arts, Facing Social Injustice in Musical Theatre, Acting Through Song, Songwriting, Self-Tape for Dummies, Character Development, and Audition Preparation Techniques.
